Miyashiro earned a Master of Arts in educational counseling from CSU San Bernardino and is currently in the dissertation phase of his doctorate.Ī comprehensive two-year college, El Camino serves approximately 25,000 students each semester. He most recently served as vice president of student services at Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley. In 2001, he accepted a position as the dean of enrollment services at Long Beach City College, where he participated in the development of the Long Beach Promise, the leading model in community college promise programs. He then became associate director of transfer and student programs at the CSU Office of the Chancellor. His career in student services began at CSU Monterey Bay in 1994, serving as a coordinator in the Student Information Center, and progressing to director of academic advising and articulation in 1996. Miyashiro has more than 20 years of experience in student services at both the university and community college level.
